Raymond Phillip Peacock, age 70, of Carroll passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – St. Lawrence Church with Fr. Shinoj Jose as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Lawrence Choir with Kate Cuddy as pianist. Lector for the Mass will be Jerry Amend. Eucharistic minister will be Ione Koster. Gift Bearers will be Sherry Peacock and Julie Costello. Casket bearers will be David Peacock, Tom Peacock, Norbert Janning, Mark Hackfort, Paul Koster, and David Koster. Burial be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. Raymond was born on June 20, 1949 in Denver, Colorado, and was the son of Jack and Mary (Rice) Peacock. He grew up in Denver and graduated from Arvada High School in 1967. Ray attended the University of Colorado and then worked as a projectionist for movie theaters, as a diesel mechanic, and for Gateway Computers as an engineering technician. He was married to Mary Janning on June 19, 1976 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada, CO. The couple made their home in Colorado and then moved to Sioux City in 1979 where Ray also worked as a diesel mechanic for Diesel Specialties. The family moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota, for five years, back to Sioux City, and then to Carroll in 2014. Ray was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. He enjoyed building projects and fixing most anything, spending time outdoors, bicycling, walking, and family gatherings. Ray especially enjoyed traveling to Colorado and New Jersey to visit family. Ray had a mathematical mind and was always learning with excellent memory recall.
Ray is survived by his wife Mary of Carroll; his son Jason Peacock (Marian) of Clifton, NJ; a granddaughter Isabella; five sisters: Joan Amend (Jerry) of North Carolina, Cathy Zawatski of Denver, CO, Suzy Graul of Denver, CO, Sherry Peacock of Wilmington, CO, and Julie Costello (Paul) of Denver, CO; two brothers: David Peacock of Arvada, CO, and Tom Peacock of Denver, CO; his in-laws: Richard Janning (Janet) of Carroll, Ione Koester (John) of Breda, Betty Hackfort (Leon) of Carroll, Joan Janning of Carroll, and Norbert Janning (Colleene) of Le Mars; and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Peacock; and his in-laws Norbert and Ione Janning.
