Raymond Emil Deeth

Raymond Emil Deeth, age 86, of Banks, Oregon, formerly of Carroll County Iowa, passed away on December 21, 2021.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Ray’s final resting place will be at Willow Cemetery in Greene County, Iowa.  Pastor Alan Miller will be officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.

Raymond Emil Deeth was born to Emil Carl Deeth and Velma Maria (Lucht) Deeth on March 12, 1935, in Carroll County Iowa.  Ray had one older brother, Dale Robert Deeth, who passed away March 8, 2013.

Ray was raised on a farm in Iowa.

In 1955, Ray enlisted in the Army.  He was honorably released from active military service in 1957 and transferred to the Army Reserves to complete his 6 years of service.

On November 23, 1957, Ray married Irma Kluge.

In December 1957, Ray joined the FBI in Washington DC as an Electronic Technician.

In 1958, Ray was transferred to the FBI office in Los Angeles, where, on October 13, 1958, his only child, Gregory Raymond Deeth was born.

In 1961, Ray was transferred to the FBI office in Seattle, Washington, where the family lived for the next 19 years.

In 1980, Ray and Irma divorced, and Ray transferred to the FBI office in Portland, Oregon.  He purchased a home in Manning, Oregon.

On April 28, 1984, Ray’s son Greg married Patricia Mannon.

On July 31, 1987, Ray’s only grandchild, Gregory Patrick Deeth, was born.

In 1987 or 1988, Ray moved to Banks, Oregon.

In 1990, Ray retired from the FBI after 33 years of service.

On November 3, 1998, Ray was elected Mayor of Banks, Oregon.

Over the years, Ray has spent a considerable amount of time working with the Banks Chamber of Commerce and the Historical Society.  He was instrumental in developing two brochures for the Banks Historical Society – “Historical Walking Tour of Banks”, and “Banks: A Town on the Move”.

For many years, Ray has been a Ham Radio Enthusiast with call sign K7VDQ.

Ray is survived by his son Greg Deeth, daughter-in-law Pat Deeth, grandson Gregory Deeth, sister-in-law Shirley Deeth, and five nieces and their families.
