Raymond Carl Berndt, age 92, of Carroll, Iowa, died at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on January 1, 2012.
Funeral service will be at 2PM Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Organist for the funeral will be Mrs.Ellen Severin and soloist will be Skip Raridon singing “Prayer Perfect” and the congregation will sing What a Friend We Have in Jesus. Casket Bearers will be
Arlo Buck, Bob Grundmeier, Richard Janning, John Olberding Judy Haubrich, Jodie Sturm and Larry Hunter and Joe O’Leary. Interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 12Noon on Wed and until time of the service.
Born on May 1, 1919 at Denison, Iowa, he was the son of Carl and Elsa Haedenfeldt Berndt. Ray was a long time electrician in Carroll, having owned and operated the Berndt Electrical until his retirement. He was married to Birdie Carlson on April 16, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, by Pastor Carl Schmidt. Ray was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. He loved and lived his God given life.
Surviving are his wife Birdie of Carroll; a daughter Donna Rae Jones and her husband Randall of Urbandale, Iowa; and one grandson Jeff Jones of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Gertrude Holzfaster.
