Randy Barker

Randy Barker, age 56, of Carroll and formerly of Coon Rapids passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines due to injuries suffered in a construction accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Casket bearers will be Kevin Lloyd, Kerry Shirbroun, Kendall Dickman, Larry Paulsen, Greg Reinecke, Bill Vaughn, and Tom Vaughn. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden with military honors by the Glidden American Legion. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday evening. Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on February 20, 1961 in Leon, IA, he was the son of Ronald and Rosetta (Akes) Barker. He grew up in Coon Rapids and attended Coon Rapids High School. Following high school, Randy went to work for the Garst Company in Coon Rapids and did farm work for several local farmers. Randy served in the National Guard for four years. He was currently employed by Moorehouse Ready-Mix Concrete. Randy was an avid stock car racer. He lived in Ukiah, California from 1999 – 2001 where he raced and worked at a truck stop. Randy enjoyed fishing, working on cars, following NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Randy is survived by his parents Rosetta and Ronald Dean Barker; his fiancé Delilah “Dee Dee” Venteicher; his children: son Ronald Earl Barker of Carroll and daughter Laura Rosetta Barker of Glidden; 2 grandchildren: a sister Rebecca Bradt (Daryl) of Mexico, MO; a brother Robert Barker of Coon Rapids; Dee Dee’s family: Damian Gesell, Holly Smith, Christopher Broich, Heather Hill, Dustin Hill, Donna Hill, and 12 grandchildren. Randy is preceded in death by his grandparents; his brother Ricky D. Barker; his step-daughter Michelle Schirck; and Dee Dee’s father Donald Venteicher.
