Ralph E. Peters, age 89, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Jan Hoff and soloist will be Marv Toft. Burial will be in Crawford Heights Memorial Gardens near Denison. Casket bearers will be Marc Peters, Keith Wulf, Jeff Bohm, Joseph Bissen, Joshua Bissen, Charls Wacker and Joe Peters. Honorary casket bearers will be George and Dixie Crouse and Kenneth and Shari Crouse. Born on January 19, 1925 near Charter Oak, IA, he was the son of William and Rose (Bahnsen) Peters. Ralph’s family lived a short time in Buck Grove and then moved to Denison when he was seven years old. He attended high school in Denison and enlisted in the United States Army on December 4, 1945. He was stationed in Germany and served two years. He was married to Della Bohm on November 21, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buck Grove by Pastor Neutzman. Ralph and Della lived in Denison where he worked for Crouse Cartage. They moved to Carroll in 1957 when Crouse Cartage relocated and he retired in 1987. In retirement he volunteered at New Hope Village Bargain Shop. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll where he served on the board of finance. He was a member of the Carroll American Legion. Ralph enjoyed traveling, camping, and being with his family and friends. Ralph is survived by his wife Della of 65 years; a daughter Linda Richwine and her husband Mark of Colorado Springs, CO; a son Larry Peters of Denison; two grandchildren: Kimberly Cornelius of Colorado Springs, CO and Jennifer Grow and her husband Todd of Colorado Springs, CO; two great grandchildren: Audrey and Hannah Grow; his mother-in-law Ida Bohm of Denison; two brothers-in-law: Edward Bohm and his wife Karen Irving, TX and Don Bohm and his wife Oline of Burnsville, MN; a sister-in-law Betty Wacker her husband Clyde of Durant, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters: Adella Pruel, Edna Kelm, Sadie Hoffmeier, and twins: Martha and Marie Peters, and two brothers: Bill Peters Jr. and LaVern Peters.
