Phyllis Anne Rosa, age 87, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 03, 2012 at the Gowrie Care Center in Gowrie, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton with Rev. Gary Bird of First Congregational Church in Ft. Dodge officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton. Casket bearers will be Tyler Stubbs, Justin Palas, Josh Brundage, Gary Gillispie, and Jim Stubbs.
Born on October 9, 1924 at Royal, Iowa, she was the daughter of Emil Victor and Mabel Evelyn (Grandy) Peterson. She grew up in Lohrville and graduated from Lohrville High School in 1942. Following high school she worked at the Lohrville Bank for several years. She was married to James Russell Rosa on November 20, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed north of Scranton all their married life. Phyllis was a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed bird watching, the Welch Corgi dogs she had over the years, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sister Bonnie Lee Stubbs of Story City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1991, two brothers: Marvin and Franklyn Peterson, and a sister Beverly Nelson.
