Phyllis Ann Richardson

Phyllis Ann Richardson, age 88, of Coon Rapids passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday evening. Visitation will resume at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church until the time of service. Born July 3, 1927 on a farm near Coon Rapids, she was the daughter of James and Marian (Unger) Cook. She attended country school at Willow #3 and Viola Center, and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1944. On January 5, 1945, she was united in marriage with James Ray Richardson at the Methodist parsonage in Coon Rapids. They were blessed with three sons: James Michael, John Mark, and William Joseph. Phyllis and Jim operated a dairy farm in the Scranton-Ralston area until his death in 1981. Phyllis then moved back to Coon Rapids and worked until her retirement for Carroll County Public Health as a Home Healthcare Aide. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed reading, caring for her dogs, following family athletics, and music events. Phyllis is survived by her sons: James M. (Gail) of Audubon, John M. (Sharon) of Coon Rapids, and William J. (Darla) of Manvel, TX; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Richardson of Audubon, Jessica Toillion (Dave) Spokane, WA, Jeff Richardson (Elizabeth) of West Bend, WI, Vanessa Richardson of Denver, CO, Ian Richardson of Richmond, VA, Kesley Richardson of Manvel, TX, and Keegan Richardson of Manvel, TX; eight great grandchildren: Max, Jack, Sophia, Bruce, and Henry Toillion, and Thomas, Edwin, and Elizabeth Richardson; brother Bill Cook (Thin) of Council Bluffs; sisters-in-law Ruth Cook of Coon Rapids and Zoe Ann Kraft of La Crosse, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband James in 1981, brother Douglas (Dugan) Cook, and granddaughter Wendy Richardson.
