Phyllis Eileen Presslor, age 81, of Carroll and formerly of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to complications of a stroke.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Lorinda H. M. Hoover officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Organist for the service will be Marcy Andersen and soloist will be Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Phyllis’ grandchildren. Born on May 18, 1934 in Wamsley, OH, she was the daughter of James and Edith (Nichols) Branham. She grew up in southern Ohio and her father passed away when she was four years old. She was raised by her mother and step-father Loy Neary and graduated from Jefferson High School in Blue Creek, OH. She was a homemaker while her children were young and later worked in retail clothing sales. She was married to Darius Dryden on November 18, 1950. Phyllis and Darius lived in Cherry Fork and Dayton, OH before moving to Moline, IL. The couple divorced in 1974 and Phyllis moved to Rockford, IL. She was later married to Melvin Presslor and he passed away in 2008. Phyllis moved to Carroll in 2009 to be near her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Moline, IL. She was active with the Newcomers Club in Moline. Phyllis was a very positive and encouraging person. She loved fashion and being fashionable. She enjoyed gardening but most of all she cherished every moment she could spend with her grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by a son Stephen Dryden and Linda Thelen of Estero, FL; two daughters: Kimberly Knoche and her husband Stephen of Davenport, IA, Anita Vanderveer and her husband Gordon of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren: Chad Dryden of Carroll, Jennifer Dryden of West Des Moines, Isaac Trapkus and his wife Suzy Kim of Princeton, NJ, Paul Trapkus of Longmont, CO, Elizabeth Knoche and her fiancé Ryan Hardesty of Bettendorf, IA, and Lindsay Vanderveer of North Liberty, IA; two sisters: Bonnie Hawkins of West Union, OH, and Eloise Doddridge and her husband Stan of Lucasville, OH; a brother Ed Neary and his wife Diana of Tennessee; a sister-in-law Sue Branham, and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, a brother James P. Branham, and a son-in-law Chuck Trapkus.
