Phyllis Ann Danner, age 84, of Glidden entered eternal life on Saturday, June 23, 2018 while a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Father Shinoj Jose as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music will be by the St. Elizabeth Church Choir with Mary Ross as Organist. Mass servers will be Summer Toms and Ayla Toms. Lectors for the Mass will be Todd Danner and Scott Danner. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Nicole Stork, Erin Danner, Rachel Rasmussen, Amber Birkett, Katie Speer, Paige Danner, Mady Danner, Alexis Danner, Emilee Danner, Drew Danner, and Natalee Danner. Eucharistic Ministers will be Janelle Danner and Lori Danner. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Blair Danner, Jeremy Draves, Seth Danner, Mike Speer, Paul Danner, Jared Danner, Brady Danner, Jake Danner, and Logan Danner. Honorary casket bearers will be great-grandchildren: Kylie, Jaslyn, Harper, Brynn, Aria, Alyia, Lexi, Adeline, and Kinnick. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home after 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, where there will be a Rosary held at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, where visitation will resume until the time of the Mass. Born on November 23, 1933 she was the daughter of William S. and Amelia (Reising) Becker. She graduated from St. Bernard High School in Breda. Phyllis worked as a waitress at Tony’s Restaurant in Carroll plus provided in-house child care for area families. On January 26, 1955 she married Verlin Wolfgang Danner. Their union remained until Verlin’s death in 2014. Our Lord blessed their union with 9 children. Phyllis devoted her life as a farm wife and loving mother. She taught religious education to many children besides her own for over twenty years through the CCD program in Glidden. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Glidden, and was active in the church Guild. After her children reached adulthood, Phyllis returned to the work force outside of farm life working again as a waitress at Mister D’s Restaurant in Glidden, Sam’s Sodas and Sandwiches in Carroll, Carroll Livestock Sales Company, and as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Carroll before officially retiring. Phyllis is survived by two daughters: Sandy (Jim) Speer of Oakdale, NY and Sheryl Draves of Lidderdale; seven sons: Kevin (Lori) Danner of Glidden, Mark (Gretchen) Danner of Broomfield, CO, Keith (Suzy) Danner of Glidden, Scott (Diane) Danner of Tripoli, IA, Todd (Amy) Danner of Westside, Joel (Janelle) Danner of West Des Moines, and Jason (Monica) Danner of Boone. Phyllis is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verlin; 2 sisters; and 5 brothers. Phyllis is and will continue to be missed by her family, friends, and countless lives she had touched throughout her lifetime.
