Phyllis Irene Anthofer

Phyllis Irene Anthofer, age 87, of Carroll passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating.  Casket bearers will be Brian Pryor, Billy Pryor, Andy Krause, and Jerid Krause.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 10 – 11 A.M. on Saturday.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on August 16, 1932 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Mearl and Alice “Fern” (Sindt) Pottroff.  Phyllis grew up on a farm north east of Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School.  She then attended and graduated from A.I.B. in Des Moines.  Phyllis was married to Lawrence Krause on November 23, 1951 in Des Moines.  Phyllis lived in Arlington, VA, while Lawrence served in the United States Army.  Upon his discharge, the couple moved back to Glidden.  Lawrence passed away in 1972.  Phyllis was later married to Anthony Anthofer in September of 1974.  The couple lived south of Dedham where they farmed.  They moved to Carroll in 1986.  Phyllis is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll.  She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, being outdoors, and getting together with her classmates.

Phyllis is survived by her four children and their families: Dennis Krause of Justin, TX, Delwin Krause  (Deb Wuebker) of Glidden, Landis Krause of Carroll, and Donita Pryor (Keith) of Carroll; eleven grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; her five step-children; a brother Donald Pottroff (Jean) of Glidden; and two sisters-in-law: Norma Krause of Lake City and June Krause of Oregon.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lawrence in 1972; a son Larry Krause in 1962; and her husband Anthony Anthofer in 2015.
