Paula A. Murphy

Paula Ann Murphy, age 72, of Jefferson, IA, and formerly of Scranton, IA, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 at Regency Park in Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Jefferson at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 with Pastor Lou Hoger officiating. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Christ Lutheran Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday.

Paula was born on August 3, 1954 in Jefferson, IA. She was the daughter of Clarence and Beverly (Christensen) Murphy. Paula graduated from high school in Northfield, MN, in 1973. She moved back to Scranton in 1986 and she worked in housekeeping at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson. She also did babysitting for several local families over the years and affectionately referred to the children as her kids. Paula enjoyed going for walks, baking and cooking, watching NASCAR and she loved her cats. She was a kind and loving soul who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Paula is survived by her mother Beverly Murphy of Jefferson; a sister Joyce Davis of Surprise, AZ; three brothers: Michael “Mick” Murphy of Kenyon, MN, Mark Murphy (Michelle) of Minneapolis, MN and Marty Murphy of Moorland, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paula was preceded in death by her father Clarence Murphy in 2009; and her brother-in-law Bob Davis.
