Paul Anthony Patterson, age 57, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Carroll First Assembly of God Church with pastor David Schaal officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Casket bearers will be Scott Johnston, Mike Goodwin, Roger Hoffman, Brian Hoffman, Ted Wall, and Willie Lang.
Born on December 20, 1954 at Iowa City, Iowa, he was the son of Harold and Jeanne (Kelbl) Wright. His mother was remarried to Melvin Patterson who later adopted Paul and the family lived in Manilla. He attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri and later Manilla High School. Paul worked for General Excavating in Carroll for 32 years. He was a member of Carroll First Assembly of God Church. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting them. He enjoyed helping others and would always go out of his way to help anyone in need. Paul enjoyed his daily trip to Kum and Go for coffee.
Paul is survived by his wife Doris of Carroll; four daughters: Sarah Patterson and her fiancé Adam Billmeier of Carroll, Jessica Irving and her husband Nick of Carroll, and Moriah and Hannah Patterson of Carroll; two sons: Lucas Patterson and his wife Eva of Carroll and Shane Patterson of Carroll; six grandchildren: Damarius, Josiah, Landan, Ethan, Linkin, and Presley; three half-brothers: David and Don Wright of Texas and Steve Wright of Iowa City; his mother and father-in-law: Lyle and Lea Hoffman of Carroll; three brother-in-laws: Marty Hoffman and his wife Carol of Twin Falls, Idaho, Roger Hoffman and his wife Madeleine of Carroll, and Brian Hoffman and his wife Monique of Bayard, Iowa; three sister-in-laws: Judy Johnston and her husband Scott of Indianola, Iowa, Lisa Goodwin and her husband Mike of Carroll, and Suzanne Larsen and her husband Allen of Ankeny, Iowa; his favorite Uncle George Kelbl of Denison and several, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by all of his parents and a granddaughter Madison.
