Paul Himes

Paul Himes, age 46, of Audubon, passed away after a long journey of declining health on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon. Paul Eric, son of Robert and Cheryle (Torine) Himes, was born March 17, 1967, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He graduated from High School in Spencer, IA in 1986 . For several years, he worked as a pressman in commercial printing in Fort Dodge and Des Moines. He later attended DMACC to study computer networking and held a position at the NOC at Camp Dodge in Johnston. On January 1, 2010, Paul was united in marriage with Katherine (Waddle) Birmingham at their home in Audubon. Paul loved being outside and enjoying nature, especially camping, hiking, fishing and gardening. He had a knack for repurposing old stuff and making if useful again. Paul is survived by his wife Katherine Himes of Audubon; a son Justin Himes of Denver, Colorado; three step-daughters: Jaime Birmingham of Ankeny; Alyx Birmingham of Ankeny; and Ryan (Keegan) Paulson of Ames; his mother Cheryle Himes of Manning; a sister Lorine (Scott) Linde of Westside; niece and nephew Jamie Linde of Grimes, Josh (Jenny) Linde and family of Manning, Katherine’s parents Dwight and Judith Waddle of Monroe; and his beloved boxer Hoss. Paul was preceded in death by his father Robert Himes. Paul’s memorial services will be held at a later date. The Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
