Paul Ragan Ewing, son of Charles Floyd and Laura Ethel (Ragan) Ewing, was born November 28, 1913 near Adrian in Bates County, Missouri. He grew up at Adrian and graduated from Adrian High School. On December 24, 1939, Paul was united in marriage with Maxine Hawkins at Butler, Missouri. During World War II, Paul served in the U.S. Army with the 603rd Coast Artillery Anti-aircraft and was discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1946. He then worked three years with the Missouri Farm Loan Company. Paul was employed by the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company for 33 years in the Farm Investment Department as an appraiser and district manager. His work took him through several mid-western states in making appraisals for investment and closing loans. He was a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers for many years and a Certified/Accredited Rural Appraiser. After his retirement from Mutual Benefit Life in 1978, he continued work on a part-time basis in making real estate appraisals for individuals and companies, as well as a special farm loan correspondent. Paul was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Past Master and 70-year member of the Masonic Lodge Signet #264, and a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer for many years and a member and Past President of the Carroll Country Club. On Sunday, February 15, 2009, Paul died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. He was 95 years old. Paul is survived by his wife Maxine Ewing of Carroll; a daughter Barbara Parks and husband John B. of Columbia, South Carolina; a granddaughter Brittany Parks of New York; a step granddaughter Heather Parks Menendez and husband Mark of St. Louis, MIssouri; a step grandson Jason Parks and wife Jessica and their children Julia and Kenan, all of Seattle, Washington. Paul requested that all memorials be directed to the First United Methodist Church. Paul Ragan Ewing 1913 - 2009
