Patrick Paul Schon, age 47, of rural Glidden passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his home near Glidden. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. Andrew Hoffmann as Celebrant assisted by Pat’s brother Deacon Gary Schon. Lectors for the Mass will be Pat’s sisters Mary Schon and Jean Pletchette, and Pat’s brother Dale Schon. Gift bearers will be Pat’s Godmother Rainy Wieland and Pat’s nieces and nephews. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Elizabeth Seton Choir with Mary Ross as organist and Mike Bolton as soloist. Casket bearers will be his brothers: Gary, Dale, Mark, Jeff, and Joey Schon; and his brothers-in-law: Andre Angrick, John Pletchette, and Rex Knudsen. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden after 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday until the time of Mass. Pat grew up on his family’s farm near Glidden and was the youngest of ten children. Pat was baptized at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale and was confirmed at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. He graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1987. Pat began farming with his brother Joey southeast of Glidden following high school. Pat was very knowledgeable about all aspects of farming. With his brother, they raised hogs and operated a successful grain farming operation. Pat enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with his family and friends especially his nieces and nephews. Pat will be remembered for his generous heart and his fun loving spirit. He loved to make people laugh. Pat is survived by his father Leo Schon of Carroll; three sisters: Mary Schon of Carroll, Shirley Angrick (Andre) of Glidden, and Jean Pletchette (John) of Winterset, IA; five brothers: Gary Schon (Sheri) of Glidden, Dale Schon (Lori) of Willey, Mark Schon (Joleen) of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Schon (Melanie) of Glidden, and Joey Schon (Monica) of rural Glidden; a brother-in-law Rex Knudsen of Carroll; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother Rosemary Schon in 2010; and a sister Sandy Knudsen in 2005.
