Patricia "Pat" Tenold

Patricia "Pat" Tenold, age 76, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Monday evening, June 2, 2014 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 P.M. on Monday evening until the time of service. Pastor Cindy Johnson of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carroll will officiate. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Kiester, Minnesota with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Pat’s name, and memorials may be left at the funeral home. Born on June 25, 1937 near Scarville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Selmer “Sam” and Katherine “Kat” (Click) Folven. She graduated from Scarville High School in 1955 and was the salutatorian of her class. Following high school she worked at a bank in Kiester, Minnesota. She was married to Lyle O. Tenold on May 18, 1957 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. The couple lived in several locations before moving to Carroll in 1967. Lyle worked as the Carroll County Superintendent and Pat started and operated an H & R Block Tax office. They moved to Arizona in 1983. Pat moved to Kansas City in 1996 where she worked as an accountant for Burlington Coat Factory. She retired in 2002 and moved back to Carroll. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carroll. She had a passion for playing cards, gardening, spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting and other events. Pat is survived by a son Lee Tenold and his wife Joyce of Overland Park, Kansas, a daughter Pamela Pettitt and her husband Todd of Carroll; a son Guy Tenold and his wife Julie of Perry, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother David Folven of Erie, Colorado; a sister Sandra Olson and her husband Harlan of Lake Mills, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Merlin and Mason.
