Patricia "Pat" Jean Branning

Patricia “Pat” Jean Branning, age 80, of Manning, IA, and formerly of rural Halbur, IA, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Accura Healthcare of Manning.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Ben Dose and Pastor Jonathan Conner officiating.  Organist for the service will be Rebecca Dose.  Casket bearers will be Pat’s grandchildren: Sarah Branning, Cassidy Branning, Ryan Branning, Alexis Branning, Eric Sibenaller, Krista Sibenaller, Emma Branning, Zach Kraus and Austin Ahrenholtz. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.  Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Monday prior to the service.

Pat was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, IA on March 17, 1943. She was the daughter of Kelly and Luella (Schultz) Musfeldt and grew up in Aspinwall, IA.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church Manning.  She attended Manning High School for three years and graduated from Manilla High School in 1961. Pat was married to Fred Branning, Jr on September 10, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.  The couple farmed in the Westside area until moving to the Branning family farm in 1975.  Pat was a devoted farm wife and she worked at several manufacturing plants in Manning over the years.  They retired from farming in 2003 and moved to Carroll in 2010.  Her most fulfilling jobs, other than motherhood, were working at New Hope Village and the New Hope Village Bargain Store in Carroll.   She enjoyed playing cards, putting together puzzles, bible studies, attending grandchildren events and spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia where she was active with the LWML and the Women’s Bible Study.
Pat is survived by her children and their families: son Brent (Patty) Branning of Denison, IA, daughter Darcy (Neil) Sibenaller Odebolt, IA, son Kurt (Jackie) Branning of Halbur, IA and son Jon (Kari) Branning of Hinton, IA; seven grandchildren: Sarah Branning (special friend Austin Ahrenholtz), Cassidy Branning (fiancé Zach Kraus), Ryan Branning, Alexis Branning, Eric Sibenaller, Krista Sibenaller, and Emma Branning; two sisters Diane (Bennie) Little of Bonifay, FL, and Kathy (Jerry) Contine of Tombstone, AZ; two sisters-in-law: Beverly Branning and her husband Mike Tomlianovich of Bloomington, Ill, and Bonnie (Ron) Cornelius of Vail and; a brother-in-law Gene Kuhl of Manning; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 2013; her parents Kelly and Luella Musfeldt, her father and mother-in-law: Fred and Hilda Branning; a nephew Michael Musfeldt, sister Carla Darby, brother Keith Musfeldt, and a sister-in-law Phyllis Kuhl.
