Patricia Beck

Patricia Joan Beck, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 05, 2008 at the Regency Park in Carroll following a long illness. Born on February 19, 1928 at Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Dr. Merle and Elsie (Marsh) Whiteside. She grew up in Storm Lake and graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1946. She attended Iowa State and later transferred to Buena Vista and graduated in 1950 with a BS in Education. She was married to Richard Beck on August 20, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake. The couple moved to Carroll in 1964. She worked for Schroeder Oil and then for Carroll Community Schools for 18 years retiring in 1993. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carroll. Pat and Dick spent winters in Texas for eight years after retirement. Surviving are her husband Richard “Dick” Beck of Carroll; a son Greg Beck and wife Deb of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter Sue Huebsch and Mark of Carroll; a son Brian Beck and wife Lisa of Greenwood, Indiana; a daughter Alison Brantley and husband Tim of Franktown, Colorado; a daughter Nancy Vogl and her husband Don of Prescott, Wisconsin; her brother Dr. Robert Whiteside and wife Maxine of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother Richard Whiteside and wife Noel of Cleveland, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 5 step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Ken Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be granddaughters: Sonia Bell, Morgan Meiers, Whitney Meiers, Taylor Brantley, Madison Brantley, Brianna Vogl, Amber Vogl, Ashlee Beck, and Kali Beck.
