Orville John Reiman, age 78, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Born on March 16, 1930 at Halbur, Iowa, he was the son of Edward and Christine (Bellinghausen) Reiman. He grew up in Halbur and Auburn and graduated from Carroll High School in 1948. He was married to Marge Sapp on October 18, 1949 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. Orville was a lineman for Iowa Public Service for 37 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake and he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Moose Lodge, and a past member of the Elk’s Lodge. He enjoyed Intarsia woodworking, playing cards, and outdoor activities.
Surviving are his wife Marge of Lake View; a son Jerry Reiman and his wife Linda of Carroll; a daughter Linda Volquartsen and her husband Tom of Carroll; a daughter Debb Pille and her husband Chuck of Carroll; a son Craig Reiman and his wife Patty of Bloomington, Minnesota; a son Tom Reiman and his wife Michele of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother Ray Reiman and his wife Geri of Milwaukee, Wisconson; a brother Vern Reiman and his wife Elayne of Carroll; a brother Roy Reiman and his wife Bobbi of Greendale, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law Joyce Sproston of Carroll; a sister-in-law Lou Cook and her husband John of McCook Lake, South Dakota; a sister-in-law Shirley Rote of Rock Island, Illinois; a sister-in-law Lisa Larson and her husband Leo of Ureka, Utah; a brother-in-law Roger Sapp and his wife Kathi of Central City, Iowa; a brother-in-law Vic Sapp and his wife Rosemary of Carroll, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Christine Reiman, a brother Al Reiman, his mother and father-in-law Vic and Gladys Sapp, and a granddaughter Heidi Reiman in infancy, a nephew Justin Sapp and a niece Connie Gierman.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake with Rev. John Mc Guirk and Rev. Larry McCarty Concelebrating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Rosary at 3:00 P.M. by the Sac City Knights of Columbus and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by St. Joseph Parish. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Deacon Butch Stone. Gift Bearers will be Scyler Menke, Megan Volquartsen, Jordan Barnett, and McKenna Schlicte and Eucharistic Ministers will be Don and Peg Derner. Casket bearers will be Andy Reiman, Scott Volquartsen, Nic Volquartsen, Brian Dudley, Todd Grimsman, Kyle Grimsman, and Cole Reiman. Interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church.
