Oliver “Ollie” Lavern Wenck, age 89, of Lidderdale entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Pastor Bill Weiss officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Jim Streufert and soloist will be Jonathan Rempfer. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Matt Wenck, Joshua Rempfer, Mark Wenck, Chris Wenck, Jacob Rempfer, and Jonathan Rempfer. Honorary casket bearers will be his granddaughters: Erin Roubal, Brooke Galinsky, Bethany Gallegos, Lacey Knobbe, Emily Greteman, Breely Schiltz, Mallory Wenck, Abby Wenck, Maggy Wenck, and Shelby Wenck. Born on October 9, 1923 on his family’s farm three miles east of Lidderdale, he was the son of Daniel and Frieda (Harmening) Wenck. Oliver lived on the farm until he was seven years old when his family moved into Lidderdale. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on October 28, 1923 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 21, 1937 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1941. Following high school he worked for his father for two years before he was drafted into the United States Army Air Force and served from 1943 – 1946. Following his service in the military he graduated from the Primary Flight Curriculum of the Carroll Flying Service and earned his pilot’s license. He was married to Gloria Jean Hein on June 13, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale by Pastor Hermann. Oliver worked with his father, brother Russell, and sister Lois at Wenck Mill and Hatchery until 1967 when he became owner /operator of Wenck Feeds. Oliver and his brother Russell also operated Wenck Transportation during this time. He continued to operate Wenck Feeds until his sons became owner/ operators of the business in 1990. Oliver continued to take an active part in the business after retiring in 1988 until the time of his death. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale where he served as chairman of the congregation and Elder. He served on the Lidderdale City Council and as president of the Lidderdale Apartments Inc. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, golfing, traveling, spending time at the lake, and spending time with his family. Oliver is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria of Lidderdale; four sons: Scott Wenck and his wife Cindy of Lidderdale, Daniel Wenck and his wife Billie of Glidden, Jeffrey Wenck and his wife Ann of Lidderdale, and Lynn Wenck and his wife Beth of Lidderdale; a daughter Deb Rempfer and her husband Pastor Steven of Newhall, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister Norma Hein and her husband Lyle of Carroll; a sister-in-law Frieda Wenck of Lidderdale; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Frieda Wenck, two sisters: Lois Winger and Carol Connor, two brothers Russell Wenck and Glen Wenck, and one grandson David Wenck.
