Norma was born on December 8, 1926 in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of Homer and Beatrice (Godbois) Chouinard. She was raised in the Chicago area where she attended school and after graduation, she attended Burnels Beauty School in Chicago graduating in 1945. She met her future husband Harold at a Chicago Cubs Baseball game in Maywood, IL. She was united in marriage to Harold Kruse on May 13, 1956 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose Park, IL. They moved south of Lidderdale, IA, for a short time before making Fort Collins, CO their home in 1958. Both Norma and Harold opened their own businesses where Harold ran a Barbershop and Norma owned and operated the Tiara Beauty Salon for several years until she retired and sold her business in 1989. Harold died March 31, 1991. She continued to live in Fort Collins until she moved to SunnyBrook of Carroll in 2014.
Norma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden, IA. She was also a proud member of the Hummel Club and a preferred member of the Hallmark Gold Crown Club. She was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and a Denver Bronco Fan. Norma volunteered several hours at the clothing bank at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fort Collins and in her spare time you could often find her watching a Christmas Hallmark movie no matter what time of year it was. She loved taking trips with her family, playing cards especially rummy, and spending time with her many friends. But most of all Norma cherished the time she was able to spend at their cabin in the mountains where she loved to go fishing and having a cup of coffee on her deck at her mountain home.
Norma is survived by her brother-in-law Louis Grade of Carroll, sister-in-law Leta Kruse of Carroll; many nieces and nephews that she loved very much, other relatives and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Harold Kruse, her parents Homer and Beatrice Chouinard, and her brother Ernie Chouinard.
