Norma Jean “Susie” Frank, age 82, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. Casket bearers will be Tim Wheeler, Zach Darling, Derwin Gottsch, Dale Gottsch, Dylan Gottsch, and Elecia Wheeler. Honorary casket bearers will be Charles Wheeler, Keegan Darling, Tyson Darling, Ramsey Hussing, and Damien Hussing. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. Additional visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll on Monday from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Norma was born on August 18, 1943 in Carroll, Iowa, and was the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Vanderloo) Stangl. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1961. Following high school, she worked for Noland’s Dime Store and Thompson Cleaners.
Susie, as she was known to most, was married to Eldon Frank in 1964 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lake View. The couple farmed east of Carnarvon. To this union were born four daughters: Doris, Sharon, Brenda, and Connie.
Eldon passed away in 1984 and she was later married to Ernest Frank in 1985 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lake View. The couple lived east of Carnarvon and Norma worked at Twilight Acres Nursing Home and had a daycare in her home. She enjoyed camping, craftwork, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
Norma is survived by her daughters and their families: Doris Wheeler (Timothy) of Des Moines, Sharon Gottsch (Derwin) of Carroll, Brenda Darling (Zach) of Des Moines, and Connie Warne of Des Moines; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; her sister Shirley Gute of Carroll; a sister-in-law Myra Stangl of Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mildred Stangl, her in-laws Margaret and Henry Frank; her two husbands: Eldon Frank and Ernest Frank; two brothers: Richard and Don Stangl; and two sisters-in-law Velma Auen (Arthur “Bud”) and Ila Oxendale (John).
