Nicholas Chris Bock, age 22, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home in Lake View.
Mass of the Christian Burial held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Lector for the mass will be Brittany Lauridsen. Gift bearers will be his brother Jacob and his sisters Alison, Haley, and Alexis. Casket bearers will be T.J. Vanderheiden, Matt Schmitz, Brad Berringer, Austin Smith, Joe Billmeier, Heath Wright, Glenn Sommers Jr., and Leo Stacy. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Auburn. A memorial fund has been established in Nicholas’ name and may be left at the funeral home or the church.
Born on May 1, 1989 at Lake City, Iowa, he was the son of Larry and Joan (Schulte) Bock. He grew up in Carroll and attended Carroll High School. Following high school he moved to Denver, Colorado and attended college and moved back to Carroll to be near his family. Nicholas enjoyed music, playing Frisbee golf, drawing, playing his guitar, watching horror movies, his dog Athena, and spending time with his newborn son Tristan.
Surviving are his parents Joan Schulte Augustus and her husband Craig of Carroll and Larry Bock of Lake View; his son Tristan Bock and his mother Starr Daniel of Glidden; three sisters: Alison Marie Bock (Cory (Hempstead) of Carroll, and Haley and Alexis Bock of Nebraska City, Nebraska; a brother Jacob Bock (Samantha Hamilton) of Lake View; two step sisters: Amanda and Alexandria Augustus of Carroll; his maternal grandmother Marlene Vanderheiden and her husband Mike of Carroll; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Lester Schulte, his paternal grandmother LaVonne Bock and his good friends: Josh Tunning, Billy Reisenberg, and Joe Kasperbauer.
