Neva Wilson

Neva K. Wilson, age 82, of Glidden passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.  Casket bearers will be Robert Barker, Chad Grossman, Michael Wilson, and Dustin Warnke.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday evening.  Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. on Friday until 10:15 A.M.   Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on December 6, 1937 on her family’s farm near Coon Rapids, IA, she was the daughter of Valley and Selma (Jacobsen) Smith.  She grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1957.  She attended a business college in Omaha and worked for several Law Firms in the Omaha area.  She was married to Jerry Wilson on November 16, 1963 at First Methodist Church in Nebraska City, NE.  Jerry and Neva lived in Council Bluffs and then several other locations before moving to Glidden in 1978 where Neva was a stay at home Mom and Jerry worked at Crouse Cartage.  After her children were raised, she worked at Casey’s in Glidden, then B.P. in Glidden, and later for Wal-Mart in Carroll.  Neva enjoyed reading, sewing, playing games, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.  Neva was a very creative person and made her family many treasured gifts.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Neva is survived by her husband Jerry Wilson of 56 years of Glidden; a daughter Cheryl Wilson (Glen Knight) of Glidden; a son Dean Wilson (Julian Sheldahl) of Ankeny; Neva was also blessed with Jerry’s boys: Rick Wilson (Robin) of Carroll, Randy Wilson (Kathy) of Council Bluffs, Jimmy Wilson (Kelly) of Waukee, and Mark Wilson (Julie) of Audubon; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Ruth Wilson of Cedar Rapids; her sister Jane Ann Stangl (James) of Peoria, AZ; a brother-in-law Jim Wilson of Council Bluffs; and several nieces and nephews.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents Valley and Selma Smith; her mother and father-in-law Jerry and Eleanora Wilson; a son Tim Wilson; a granddaughter Trisha Eighmy; a grandson Ricky Wilson; two sisters: Carol Jean Nielson and Nadine Smith; and five brothers: Wayne, Marvin, Merle, Edward, and Gerald; and many other extended family members.
