Neoma Jean Hagge, age 81, of Carroll, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Regency Park in Carroll. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin and soloist will be Marv Toft. Casket bearers will be members of the Iowa Highway Patrol: Lieutenant Rob Borelli and Sergeant Mike Cunningham and nephews: Kurt Albrecht, Connor Albrecht and Blake Albrecht. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Paul Lutheran Church at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Neoma was the daughter of Harry R. and Lydia (Hoogestraat) Hagge. She was born in Carroll on June 26, 1937. She spent her first six years in Arcadia and was baptized, as an infant, in Zion Lutheran Church. Her family moved to Carroll and she was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. At the age of 16, Neoma graduated from Carroll High School in 1954. She attended two years of school at the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls and finished her education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Upon her graduation she went to work for the Iowa Highway Patrol as a clerk in the driver’s license division. She worked with what then became the Iowa Department of Transportation, for 33 ½ years, retiring in 1996 as the assistant license examiner. Neoma was a charter member and life member of the Carroll County Genealogy Society. Her German heritage was important to her and she belonged to other genealogical groups and was particularly happy to be a part of the Ostfriesen Genealogical Society of America. Neoma enjoyed the Bible classes, LWML, and Lydia Circle at St. Paul Lutheran. She sang in the choir for over 50 years. She also was an alto in the Carroll Community Chorus, being a part of that Chorus from its inception, and singing until her health declined. Neoma enjoyed reading mysteries. She had a love for crafting such as crochet, counted-cross stitch and embroidery. She enjoyed painting Christmas ornaments for all of her family members and did so for a number of years. Surviving Neoma are three nieces; Lori Whitehill of Overland Park, KS; Dana Eastman of Nisswa, MN; and Kerri Albrecht of Overland Park, KS. 8 great-nieces and nephews, a cousin Ina Ray Nieland of Carroll, and several other family members, and her good friend Lita Kruger. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harry and his wife Madeline Hagge, and her nephew Jon Hagge.
