Nancy Anne Hanson, age 82, of Glidden passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Organist for the service will be Patty Patrick. Casket bearers will be Nancy’s grandchildren: Tony Mueggenberg, Aaron Mueggenberg, Mitch Jensen, Dylan Huey, Chase Huey, Stephanie Jensen, and Tamie Rich. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on May 22, 1934 in Emmetsburg, IA, she was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Crichett) Simonson. She grew up in Ruthven where she graduated from high school in 1952. Nancy attended nursing school in Des Moines following high school. She was married to Wayne Hanson on August 9, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. Wayne and Nancy lived in several locations before moving to Glidden in 1966 where Wayne worked for Crouse Cartage in Carroll and Nancy was the Carroll County Justice of the Peace from 1968 – 1973. She then went to work for General Electric and retired in 1989. Nancy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ruthven, Entre Nous Club, and Bridge Club. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a quilter and helped with Vacation Bible School. Nancy enjoyed golfing, gardening, baking cookies, and spending time with family. Nancy is survived by five daughters: Debra Hanson of Sioux Falls, SD, Susan Hanson (Butch Culp) of West Des Moines, Marilyn Mueggenberg (Richard) of Arcadia, Marcia Jensen (Ken) of Glidden, and Barbara Lenz (Rick) of Westside; two sons: Steven Hanson (Brenda) of Oxford, FL, and Max Hanson (Leslie) of Volo, IL; thirteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-granddaughters; a brother David Simonson (Judy) of Indialantic, FL; three sisters-in-law: Lorraine Hanson of West Des Moines, Mavis Eide of Estherville, and Sarah Schmidt of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; a brother-in-law Dean Hanson of Estherville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2005, a sister Barbara Kennedy and her husband Bill, three brothers-in-law: Dale Hanson, Wesley Eide, and Jim Schmidt, and a sister-in-law Nancy Hanson.
