Mildred Leon Johnston, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Born on February 9, 1935 at Churdan, Iowa she was the daughter of Holger and Hazel (Reed) Jensen. She grew up in Scranton and lived all her life in the Scranton, Jefferson, and Churdan areas. She graduated from Scranton High School. Mildred was married to Raymond Johnston on April 7, 1955 at Scranton. She enjoyed sewing, volunteer work at the New Hope Village Bargain Shop, going to the races, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Betty Johnston and special friend Floyd Jacobsen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Bob Johnston and his wife Donna of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; Tim Johnston and his wife Lyla of Denison, Iowa; Lori Segebart and her husband Randy of Sleshwig, Iowa; and Cory Johnston and his wife Jill of Carroll; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Clifford Jensen and his wife Ruth of Coon Rapids, Iowa; a sister Delores Anderson of Rockwell City, Iowa; a sister Sharon Cummings of Laurens, Iowa; and a sister Harriett McMean of Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Michael Fitzsimmons of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M., on Thursday. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery near Scranton. Casket bearers will be Bob Johnston, Tim Johnston, Cory Johnston, Nathan Johnston, Randy Segebart, Brandon Johnston, Cody Segebart, Alex Johnston, Floyd Jacobsen, and Ryan Johnston.
