Mildred Fricke

Mildred Dorothy Fricke, age 94, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Born on February 24, 1915 at Lanesboro, Iowa, she was the daughter of John R. and Nora M. (Warnke) Schumacher. She grew up in rural Carroll and attended country school as a girl. She was baptized on July 11, 1915 at the United Methodist Church in Lanesboro by Rev. Cox and she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 13, 1930 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll by Rev. Meuller. Mildred was married to Harry Fricke on April 7, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. The couple farmed all their married life North West of Lidderdale until moving to Carroll in 1986. Mildred was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, traveling to Texas in the winter months with her husband, telling stories and laughing at a good joke. Surviving are a daughter Linda O’Leary and her husband Lynn of Shoreview, Minnesota; a grandson Ryan O’Leary and his wife Aimee of St. Paul, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law Florence Fricke of Carroll and Dorothy Johnson of Roberts, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 1992, a son Linus in infancy, a sister Alice Subbert, a brother John C. Schumacher, and a brother Earvin Schumacher in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Rev. Bill Weiss officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Agnes Onken. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Ryan O'Leary, Ron Fricke, Paul Fricke, and Brad Pudenz. Honorary casket bearers will be Eugene Pudenz, Mark Knobbe, Donald Subbert, and Lynn O'Leary. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
