Michael Wayne Thomas Sr., age 59, of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 unexpectedly at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Scranton with Pastor Bob McKnight officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Laura McKnight. Friends may call at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Shawn Lincoln, Scott Lincoln, John Stagg, Jeremy Cooper, Cody Todd, and Ray Crook. Honorary casket bearers will be Tony Crook, Robert Kelly, Darin Roberts, and Don Gustoff Jr.. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery near Scranton.
Born on March 13, 1951 at Perry, Iowa, he was the son of Edward Lee Thomas and Mary (Stevens) Beaman. He was married to Diane Kelly on October 17, 1970 at Perry, Iowa. Mike was a car detailer for 20 years and was working at Champion Ford in Carroll at the time of his death. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Diane of Scranton; a son Michael Jr. and his wife Janna of Windom, Minnesota; a son Richard Thomas and his wife Juanita of Scranton; a daughter Nicole Sawhill of Scranton; a daughter Wendi Jo Villegas of Sacramento, California; eleven grandchildren; and one great grandchild; five brothers: John Thomas of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Bill Todd, and David Todd both of Perry, Gary Thomas and his wife Lorna of Boone, and Steven Thomas of Boone; four sisters: Karen Godwin of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Barb Lincoln and her husband Mark of Perry, Iowa, Linda Stagg and her husband Dan of Bagley, and Vicki Burke of Boone, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Beaman, Ralph Beaman, and Edward Thomas, his in-laws Bud and Geri Kelly, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
