Michael Kent Park, age 56, of Scranton passed away at his home in Scranton on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
Born on January 8, 1953 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Robert and Carol (West) Park. He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Lake City High School in 1971. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. He then worked for DonCo Trucking of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards and watching westerns on television.
Surviving are a daughter Kristine Park and her fiancé Ronnie Wiederien and his children Ashley, Trent, and Megan of Glidden, Iowa; a daughter Kelly Villalobos and her husband Julian of San Marcos, Texas; a son Kyle Park of Weslaco, Texas; his mother Carol Park of Scranton, Iowa; a sister Mary Jo Halterman of Coon Rapids, Iowa; a brother Andy Park of Barnum, Iowa; a sister Julie Park of Coon Rapids, Iowa; a brother Jon Park of Barnum, Iowa; a sister Terri Renwanz and her husband Bill of Jefferson, Iowa; a sister Kathy Geuss and her husband Eric of Harper Woods, Michigan; a sister Trish Monthei and her husband Mike of Panora, Iowa; a sister Jan Kirschman and her husband Rick of Ankeny, Iowa; six grandchildren: Aaron, Anthony, Austin, Devin, Christopher, and Alexa; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and a brother Steven.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton with Fr. Steven McLoud as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M.. Lector for the mass will be Eldon Wright. Eucharistic minister will be Jan Morlan and music will be by Richard Carey. Casket bearers will be Alex Gettler, Cody Renwanz, Tony Park, Nick Halterman, Rod Walker, and Tom Wittrock. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale.
