Merlin "Mox" Robert Irlmeier

Merlin “Mox” Robert Irlmeier of Manning and formerly of Templeton, IA, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, IA. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton with Fr. Steve Brodersen as Celebrant. Concelebrant will be Fr. John Gerald. Music for the Mass will be by the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir with Jeannie Kerkhoff as organist, and bagpiper Steve Johnson. Lectors for the Mass will be Bob Irlbeck and JoAnn Breymer. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Ann Johnson, Amber Irlmeier, Beth Larsen, Cassie Jacobsen, Deann Irlmeier, Erin Irlmeier, Nickie Timson, Heather Jondall, Tracie Snyder, and Abbie Younkin. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Daniel Foye, Paul Flies, Greg Flies, Jeff Flies, Jeremy Flies, Drew Snyder, Owen McGuffin, Isaac McGuffin, Elias McGuffin, and Alex Younkin. Honorary casket bearers will be Gerald “Doc” Schreck, Bob Hansen, Randy Irlbeck, Leonard Kitt, Dave Kerkhoff, and Kevin Wieland. Eucharistic ministers will be Amber Irlmeier, Deb Terrell and Mary Schoeppner. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to Sacred Heart Church in Templeton at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 19, 2017 where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Mox was born on March 30, 1934 on the Irlmeier family farm where he lived his entire life. Mox was the son of Joe and Ann (Feilmeier) Irlmeier and was the youngest of 12 children. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School and graduated in 1952. Following high school, he farmed with his father. He was married to Anna Mae Schaeuble on April 14, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. Mox and Anna Mae lived on the home farm where they raised their family and farmed. Mox enjoyed telling jokes, scratch tickets, meat processing, making beef jerkey, reading the Des Moines Register, following the Detroit Tigers, Werther’s Candy, chocolate, and socializing with friends. Mox is survived by his wife Anna Mae of Manning; five daughters: Peg Foye (Mike) of Boulder, CO, Cathy Flies (Mike) of Defiance, IA, Charlene Timson (Todd) of Broomfield, CO, Pam Younkin of Camas, WA, and Kris McGuffin (Don) of Des Moines; two sons: Ken Irlmeier (Sandy) of Elk Horn, Iowa, and Keith Irlmeier (Renee) of Greene, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon, IA, several nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Mox was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna Irlmeier; his mother and father-in-law Joe and Clara Schaeuble; his siblings: Joseph “Stoogie” Irlmeier (Rosalia), Ann “Gert” Irlbeck (Ambrose), Alex Irlmeier (Eleanor), Leonard Irlmeier (Dorothy), Clete Irlmeier (Delores), Irene Kraus (Al), Jeannie Brosnahan (Ed), Dorothy Crowdes (Bob); Leo Irlmeier (Lucy), Wilfred “Bud” Irlmeier (Toni), and Don Irlmeier; an infant Charles Joseph “Chuckie” in infancy; and a son-in-law Rick Younkin.
