Melanie Marie Frantz

Melanie Marie Frantz, age 60, of rural Churdan, IA, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA surrounded by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 6:45 P.M. on Thursday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Minburn.

Melanie was born on August 15, 1963 in Boulder, Colorado.  She was the daughter of Lloyd and Marilyn (Shirley) Miller.  She grew up in Niwot, Colorado where she graduated from high school.  Melanie worked as a police dispatcher for the Boulder Police Department for several years before moving to Minburn, Iowa to be near her family.  Melanie was married to Colin Frantz on September 2, 2018 in Glidden, IA.  She worked for Kirklands in Des Moines before moving to Glidden where she worked for American Home Shield, RSVP, and most recently as the Volunteer Coordinator for Gentiva Hospice.  Melanie loved to shop and decorate her home. She was a social butterfly and had friends wherever she went.

Melanie is survived by her husband Colin Frantz of rural Churdan; a daughter Kayla Ruiz (Paul) of Westminster, Colorado; her father Lloyd Miller of Perry; two brothers: Tony Miller (Christy) of Greeley, Colorado, and Scott Miller (Shelley) of Thornton, Colorado; a sister-in-law D’Ambra Knowles of Churdan; and several nieces and nephews.

Melanie was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn; her father and mother-in-law Gaylen and Maryann Frantz; and her grandparents.
