Maxine Tryon

July 24, 1933 — March 9, 2023

Mary Maxine (Walkup) Tryon, age 89, formerly of Glidden passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Gardens at Liberty Park in Streetsboro, Ohio with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Ben Carter-Allen officiating. Organist for the service will be Nancy (Tryon) Watson.  Casket bearers will be Alex Stoneman, Jeff Walkup, Steve Stonehocker, Tom Walkup,  Dan Tryon, Kevin Tryon, Tim Tryon, and Tyler Tryon. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church in Glidden from 9:30 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Born on July 24, 1933 in York, Nebraska, Maxine was the youngest of six children born to Glen and Clara (Andreson) Walkup. She grew up on a farm in York County, Nebraska and moved to Iowa in 1941. She attended Glidden-Ralston Schools and married her husband, C. Ray Tryon on May 30, 1950. The couple lived in Iowa and Colorado during their life together raising their six children.

Maxine enjoyed time with her family, playing cards, crocheting, music and watching sports…especially the Hawkeyes. She loved Glidden and returned in her later years supporting the community through her work for the City of Glidden and the United Methodist Church.

Maxine is survived by her children: Tom Tryon of Hollister, MO, Mary Jane Conner (Rod), Lake City, IA, Jack Tryon, Glidden, IA, Sandra Tryon (Jerry Jones), Glidden, IA, Deborah Stoneman (Scott) of Northfield Center, OH and 14 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include 4 brother-in-laws, 6 sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, C. Ray Tryon (1991), her son, Stephen L. Tryon (2021), brothers Harold, Wilbur and Edward, sisters Grace and Dorothy and many other family and friends.
