Maryann Frantz

Maryann Frantz, age 70, of Glidden, Iowa passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa. Born on October 23, 1937 at Garnett, Kansas, she was the daughter of Oren “Skip” and Cleo (Hawley) Gepner. She was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Ayr High School and then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where she earned her degree in education. She was married to Gaylen Frantz on May 28, 1961 at the United Methodist Church in Carroll. She taught Kindergarten in the Glidden-Ralston School District. Later she was an adult basic education instructor at several training centers including New Hope Village and Mallard View. She also worked in housekeeping and as the activities coordinator at Mallard View. Before retiring, she worked at Swan House. Maryann enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends, as well as her pets. She enjoyed car rides, gardening, and music. Surviving are a son Colin Frantz and his fiancé Melanie Miller of Glidden; a daughter D’Ambra Knowles of Manson, Iowa; grandchildren: Brandon Clapper of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Carly Knowles and Jesse Knowles both of Manson, Iowa; brothers: Karl Gepner and his wife Molly of Benton, Iowa, Don Gepner and his wife Dianna of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Joe Gepner of Mt. Ayer, Iowa; a sister-in-law Rhonda Gepner of Griswold, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Gail Giles of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband Gaylen “Chic”, her mother Cleo, her father Oren “Skip”, her mother and father-in-law Harry and Minnie Frantz, and brothers: Marvin, Bill, and Larry “Bo”. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Chad Jennings of the United Methodist Church in Glidden officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. Casket bearers will be Tom Weber, Butch Weber, Mike Lloyd, Butch Janning, Bill Wenger, and Brandon Clapper. Honorary casket bearers will be Elmer Daiker, Dick Weber, Bob Schultz, Tom Vaughn, and Denton Wenger. Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
