Mary A. Wessling, age 74, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Born on July 15, 1934 at Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Dethlefsen) Hass. She grew up in Westside where she attended country school. She was married to Robert Thomas Wessling on May 8, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Carroll. Mr. Wessling passed away on February 1, 1977. She was a member of the Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, dancing, playing Yahtzee, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her partner in life Leo J. Bolster of Carroll; a daughter Rebecca Webb and her husband Tom of Greencove Springs, Florida; a son Tom Wessling and his wife Sandy of Denison, Iowa; a son Robert T. Wessling Jr. of Norwalk, Iowa; a daughter Cynthia Wessling of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother Willis Hass and his wife Delores of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; a brother Robert Hass and his wife Phyllis of Phelan, California; and a sister Carolyn McFarland and her husband Bob of Yellville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters: Alice Meislahn, Pearl Eischeid, Norma Jean Wells, and Erma Bock, and a brother Vernon Hass.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. John Gerald of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Templeton Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Marc Ferranti, Zach Wessling, Eric Meislahn, Andrew Bolster, Adam Bolster, and Tim Halbur.
