Mary Lou Rose - Stoneburner

Mary Lou (Rose) Stoneburner, age 86, of Panora and formerly of Bayard passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with Fr. Peters of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard officiating. Casket bearers will be Lou’s four grandsons: Brian Conrad, Andrew Nissen, Jacob Conrad, and Ian Nissen, and sons-in-law: Darrold Conrad and Galan Nissen. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery near Bayard. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 5, 1930 in Templeton, IA, she was the daughter of Felix and Rose Mary (Martes) Greteman. Lou, as she was known to most, grew up in Templeton and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1947. She was married to Robert Rose on December 24, 1948 in Templeton. The couple made their home in Bayard where they raised their three daughters: Pam, Pat, and Gayle. Lou worked alongside her husband operating Rose Produce with his family in Bayard for several years before going to work at Farmers State Bank and later Frohlichs Grocery Store in Coon Rapids. Mary Lou was later remarried to Dale Stoneburner in 2000 and they lived in Panora where they retired. While living in Bayard, she was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Lou enjoyed gardening, quilting, shopping, cooking, going to tea rooms, going for rides to Springbrook, and spending time with her family and friends especially her grandkids. Lou is survived by three daughters: Pam Conrad (Darrold) of Overland Park, KS, Pat Nissen (Galan) of North Liberty, IA, and Gayle Rose of Ankeny; five grandchildren: Brian Conrad (Courtney), Jacob Conrad, Lea Nissen (Grant Haughton), Andrew Nissen, and Ian Nissen; five great grandchildren: Kayci, Kayla, Hayden, Brooks, and Harper; two sisters: Mona Rein of Des Moines and Jen Beisch of Omaha; Kayci’s mother Melinda Heddins and several nieces and nepehws. Lou was preceded in death by her parents Rose Mary and Felix Greteman, grandson Christopher Conrad, sister Greta Steelman, and her husband Dale Stoneburner in 2016.
