Mary Lou was born on May 8, 1941 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of John and Fannie (Berns) Bruns. She grew up in the Glidden and Lidderdale area.  Mary Lou attended country school as a girl near Glidden and Lake City.  She was married to Hank Beyerink on December 20, 1958 in Pocahontas, Iowa.  They moved to Minot, ND where their oldest son was born.  They were transferred to Belton, MO in 1962 while Hank served in the Air Force.  In 1963, they moved back to Lytton and then to the farm north of Ralston.  They parted after 25 years of marriage, but remained good friends.  Mary Lou and Hank had three children: Craig, David, and Julie.  Mary Lou worked at the egg plant in Glidden, Don’s Place in Carroll and retired after working 20 years at New Hope Village.  She enjoyed getting together once a month with her “Goofy Gals” group for lunch, sending and receiving greeting and holiday cards, daily drives to Carroll to pick up the Carroll Paper and get out of the house for a while, chatting on the phone with friends, watching the Bold and the Beautiful, and listening to the KCIM news.  Family and friends are what she cherished most.  Mary Lou was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll.

Mary Lou is survived by her son Craig Beyerink (Jody) of Bellevue NE, son David Beyerink (Deb) of Carroll, and daughter Julie Knight of Glidden; grandson Tyler Knight (fiancé Macy Vanderhoof) of Glidden, and brother Dennis Bruns of Minneapolis, MN; and her good friend and former husband Hank Beyerink of Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Fannie Bruns, and her grandparents Henry and Dena Berns of Lidderdale.
