Mary Katherine Lehrter

Mary Katherine Lehrter, age 88, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Regency Park in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Merlin Schrad officiating.  Casket bearers will be Mary’s family members.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home on Friday from 12:30 P.M. – 1:45 P.M. prior to the service.

Mary was born on July 5, 1935 in Mt. Carmel, IA, and she was the daughter of Henry and Clara (Schulte) Lehrter.  She grew up in Carroll and attended St. Lawrence School.  Mary worked for Max Casino Café for many years until her father’s passing when she began to care for her mother.  She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.  Mary’s faith was very important to her.  She enjoyed playing cards, doing latch hook rugs, socializing with her family and friends, and baking Christmas cookies each year.

Mary is survived by her six sisters and their families: Francis Owen, Dorothy Kramer, Jo Ann Petersen, Stella Mohr, Shirley Miller, and Clara Lehrter all of Carroll; a sister-in-law Lynette Lehrter of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Clara Lehrter; two sisters: Lucille Butler and Leona Daisy; and three brothers: Al, Henry “Heine”, and Richard in infancy.
