Mary Kay Dirkx, age 80, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll.
Funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Chaplain Peg Scheidt officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1 – 2:45 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service.

Mary Kay was born on February 15, 1942 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of George and Mary (Frank) Conley. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy. Mary Kay was united in marriage to Lyle “Speed” Dirkx on January 6, 1962 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Carroll. She worked at Safeway and Casey’s before having a daycare in her home for over 30 years. Mary Kay was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. She enjoyed playing lotto and trips to the casino, keeping track of her daycare kids, attending her grandchildren’s events, and following the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs.
Mary Kay is survived by her husband Lyle “Speed” Dirkx of Carroll; her children and their families: son John Dirkx (Pam Soyer) of Carroll, daughter Kim Riesselman (Bill) of Halbur, son Bob Dirkx of Carroll; daughter Karmen Rotert (Joe) of Omaha, and son Shaun Dirkx (Heather) of Grundy Center; twelve grandchildren: Cameron Dirkx (Emily Pena), Matt Riesselman (fiancée Alma Cortez), Michael Riesselman (Kaitlyn), Morgan Ellis (Jordan), Cody Rotert (Marysol), Connor Rotert, Molly Riesselman (fiancé Cole Hoffman), twins: Zachary and Chase Dirkx, Lucas Dirkx, Arianna Dirkx and Julianna Dirkx; eight great-grandchildren: Luna, Ryker, Max, Dawson, Leo, Oden, Oliver, and Liam; three brothers: Joe Conley (Barb) of California, George Conley (Jean) of Waukee, and Richard Conley (Sandy) Wisconsin; three sisters-in-law: Maxine Goetzinger of Roselle, Cleo Wiskus of Exira, and Marlene Dirkx of El Paso, TX; a brother-in-law Robert Dirkx (Carol) of Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Conley; her father and mother-in-law Raymond and Francis Dirkx; and three brothers: Jack, Jerry (Lois), and Robert.
