Martha Mary Daniel

Martha Mary Daniel, age 89, of Lidderdale passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Regency Park in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale with Fr. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. by Holy Family Parish. Lector for the Mass will be Ruth Lux. Gift bearers will be Martha’s Granddaughters. Eucharistic Ministers will Joe and Katie Daniel and Mary Ann Lahr. Music for the Mass will be by Deanna Daniel and the Holy Family Choir. Casket bearers will be Martha’s Grandsons and burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Born on May 14, 1925 on her family’s farm south of Arcadia, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hoelscher) Dentlinger. She attended St. John’s Catholic School in Arcadia as a girl and one year at St. Angela’s Academy in Carroll. Following school, Martha worked as a nanny for a local doctor’s family and later at Ocoma Foods in Carroll. She was married to Everett Daniel on May 11, 1949 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple lived in Dedham where Everett operated Spaen’s Service Station. In 1951 Martha and Everett moved to the Daniel Family Farm, where Everett was born and raised, north of Lidderdale. Martha was a member of Holy Family Parish in Lidderdale where she was active with the guild and many other church activities. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and all things outdoors. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished times with her family especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha remained very close with her brothers and sisters over the years with many visits, phone calls, and reunions. She is survived by two daughters: Susan Walker of Scranton and Karen Daniel of Omaha; two sons: Stephen Daniel and his wife Shirley of Lidderdale and Joe Daniel and his wife Katie of Lidderdale; fourteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two sisters: Joni Badding and her husband Robert of Carroll and Clara Friedman of Carroll; two brothers: Larry Dentlinger and his wife Arlene of Arcadia and Al Dentlinger and his wife Isy of Westside; a sister-in-law Florence Daniel of Lidderdale; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett in 1997, a granddaughter Brenda Daniel Gentry, a great granddaughter Elizabeth Rose Sommerfeld, a brother Elmer Dentlinger, a sister Ruth Schreck, a sister Mary in infancy, and a son-in-law Jim Walker.
