Mark Olson, age 43, of Coon Rapids, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids. Friends may call after 4 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Officiating will be the Reverend Ben Ramirez. Cindy Seastrom will sing “On Eagle’s Wings.” Jill Hart will sing “Here I Am, Lord” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.” The vocalists will be accompanied by Lula Garnes. Casket bearers will be: Keenan Olson, Brody Hardman, Kevin Olson, Jamie Jackson, Shane Olson, Allan Hardman and Ron Wooldridge. Honorary casket bearers are: MacKenzie Olson, Kadey Olson, Kassidy Olson, Danni Olson, Brantley Olson, Christopher Jackson and Samantha Jackson. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Mark Jeffrey Olson, was born to Roger and Diane (Davis) Olson, on August 10, 1971, at Jefferson, Iowa. He grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated with the Coon Rapids-Bayard Class of 1990. Mark worked several years for the Bayard Coop and eight years at Farmland. He then helped construct the POET ethanol plant near Coon Rapids and subsequently worked there as a grains operator. On August 24, 2002, Mark was united in marriage with Jerri Merical at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. Mark was a lifelong resident of Coon Rapids. He was a Packers fan and enjoyed his work, taking care of family and home, working in the yard, antiques, anything automotive, and spending time with his kids. Mark is survived by his wife Jerri Olson of Coon Rapids; his children: MacKenzie, Keenan, Kadey and Kassidy Olson, all of Coon Rapids; his mother Diane Hardman and her husband Allan of Coon Rapids; his father Roger Olson of Churdan; his siblings: Kevin Olson of Coon Rapids; Michelle Kruse and husband Pat of Ogden; Shane Olson and wife Alisa of Paton; April Hose and her husband John of Churdan; Jamie Jackson and wife Kristin of Coon Rapids; Brody Hardman of Coon Rapids; Alison Herron and husband Derek of Guthrie Center; his father-in-law Jerry Merical of Jamaica, Iowa; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Clayton and Ramona Davis & Lois and Howard Kyle; his mother-in-law Sharon Merical, and a sister-in-law Jessica Olson.
