Mark Alan McAtee, age 40, of rural Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home near Coon Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Friends may call at the Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 to 7P.M. on Monday evening. Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning. Casket bearers will be David McAtee, Doug McAtee, Dana McAtee, Drew Belgarde, Brett McAtee, and Kevin McAtee. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. at the Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Iowa. Born on December 26, 1973 at Independence, Iowa, he was the son of Dallas Joseph and Goldie Jane (Peyton) McAtee. He grew up in Jesup, Iowa, where he graduated from high school 1992. Following high school Mark had several jobs and was most recently employed by the Whiterock Conservancy as the assistant manager. He was married to Jeri Brooks on July 22, 2010 in Carroll, Iowa. The couple has made their home in Coon Rapids. Mark had a big heart and was a very generous person always willing to give a hand and help out where ever needed. He loved riding his three wheeler in his younger years, going to figure 8 races, working on cars, and most of all spending time with his family.
Mark is survived by his wife Jeri of rural Coon Rapids; a son Joe Dahl of Jesup, Iowa; a daughter Megahn Roscovius of Jesup, Iowa; a son Mason McAtee of Bouton, Iowa; three step-sons: Kenneth Buttler of Panora, Iowa, Dylan Corrigan of Coon Rapids, Iowa, and Dakota Ocker of Coon Rapids, Iowa; a grandson Cade Dahl of Jesup, Iowa, his parents Dallas and Goldie McAtee of Jesup, Iowa; two sisters: Julie Belgarde and her husband Roger of Perry, Iowa, and Lynne Renfrow and her husband R. W. of Perry, Iowa; two brothers: Kevin McAtee and his wife Denise of Perry, Iowa, and Brett McAtee and his wife Deanna of Perry, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents and a brother Doug.
