Marjorie Schafer

Marjorie “Margie” Ann Schafer, age 66, formerly of the Glidden and Carroll area passed away at the Perry Health Care Center in Perry, Iowa on Sunday, June 8, 2008. Born on August 14, 1941 at Jefferson, Iowa she was the daughter of John and Lillian (Bushman) Schafer. She grew up in Glidden where she attended school. Margie was a real trooper and overcame many of the battles in her life. She fought and beat breast cancer and was then diagnosed with liver cancer in October of 2006. Margie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden. Surviving are a sister Marilyn Kay Hoover and her husband Jim of St. Peters, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jennie Jacobs. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday to lie in state until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Carolyn Flook. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
