Marilyn “Tots” Foley, age 80, of Carroll passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at her home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Brian Feller as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir with Rachel Greene as harpist and Kathleen Macke as Cantor. Mass servers will be Kiley Trecker, Michael Pottebaum and Will Schenkelberg. Eucharistic ministers will be Vicki and Larry Reiling and Kelly Foley. Lectors for the Mass will be Bonnie Danner and Jean Knobbe. Gift bearers will be Vanessa, Brooklyn, Tristan and Ashlyn Foley. Casket bearers will be Kenny Foley Jr., Kevin Foley, Kelly Foley, Ryan Wallace, Matt Kennebeck, and Nick Tomaro. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on February 21, 1937 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Leo and Marie (Soyer) Irlbeck. Her family lived on a farm by Churdan until she was four years old when they moved to a farm near Arcadia where she grew up. As the youngest of eight children, her father affectionately called her “Tots” which she has been known as all her life. She was in the first graduating class of Kuemper Catholic High School in 1955. She was married to Kenneth Foley on June 2, 1958 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple lived in Carroll for four years and then moved to Maple River for nine years moving back to Carroll in 1973. Tots worked for Farmland Foods in Carroll for 25 years. Tots was an active member of St. Lawrence Parish where she was involved in the music program, served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Bible Study. She was a founding board member of KYMJ Catholic Radio Station in Carroll. She was an avid volunteer with RSVP and the RSVP Singers. Tots was a passionate advocate for Right to Life and devoted her life to this cause. She enjoyed traveling with her family and following her grandchildren’s activities. Tots is survived by her husband Kenneth Foley of Carroll of 59 years; three daughters: Kim Wallace (Joe) of Atkins, IA, Karen “K.B.” Kennebeck (Kenny) of Carroll, and Kay Lynn Lofgren (Tim) of Chicago; three sons: Kenneth Foley Jr. (Barb Haubrich) of Carroll, Kevin Foley (Karie) of Alma, Wisconsin, and Kelly Foley (Brenda) of Maple River; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her brother Virgil Irlbeck (Roe) of Maple River; two brothers-in-law Bernie Foley (Connie) of Perris, CA, and Malick Foley (Rosie) of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law Irene Foley of Carroll; brother-in-law Bill Beidler of Carroll; sisters-in-law Mary Irlbeck and Cindy Irlbeck of Carroll; brother-in-law Lawrence Steffes of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tots was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Marie Irlbeck; her mother and father-in-law Ed and Sally Foley, two sisters: Darlene Steffes and Rosemary (Francis) Roth; four brothers: Alfonse, Vince, Denny, and Leon Irlbeck; and in-laws: Virgine Irlbeck, Colene Beidler, and John “Jack” Foley.
