Marilyn Patricia Jacobsen, age 87, of Coon Rapids, IA, and formerly of Scranton, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, IA.

A private graveside service will be held at the Scranton Township Cemetery in rural Scranton. Burial will be in the Scranton Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Marilyn was born on September 25, 1938 on a farm near Dana, IA, and she was the daughter of Ross and Nadine (Woltz) Bishop. She grew up in Dana and graduated from the Dana High School with the Class of 1956. Following high school, Marilyn moved to Des Moines and was employed with Look Magazine.

On August 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dean Jacobsen at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids. The couple lived in Germany for two years while Dean served in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, they moved to a farm west of Scranton. They moved to Ralston in 1968 and Marilyn worked for General Electric in Carroll until it closed and then she went to work for Parr Manufacturing in Des Moines until she retired in 1995. They moved back to Scranton until she was hospitalized in 2020 for Covid. Marilyn then moved to Parkview Assisted Living in Coon Rapids in November of 2020. In June of 2022, she transitioned to the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Marilyn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden. She belonged to the Varsceis Club in Scranton and served on the Scranton City Council for many years. During her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed oil painting, embroidering, diamond painting, and playing Euchre.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dean; parents Ross and Nadine Bishop; brother Danny; brother in infancy Darwin; and three sisters, Rosie, Joann, and Barbara.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Angela Breeser-King of Norwalk, IA; son Jeff Jacobsen (Deanna) of Audubon, IA; six grandchildren: Lance, Chase, and Hayes Breeser, and Justin, T.J., and Dalton Jacobsen; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
