Born on December 16, 1926, at Dedham, Iowa, she was the daughter of Frank P. and Mary (Mattes) Tigges.  She grew up on a farm in between Dedham and Coon Rapids.  Marie graduated from Coon Rapids High School and then worked at banks in Coon Rapids and Carroll.  She met Edward J. Eischeid at a dance after his discharge from the Army and they were married on February 15, 1949, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Carroll.  She and Ed lived on farms north of Halbur where Ed worked with his brother, Wilfred Eischeid.  Marie was into the ecological movement before it had a name: raising chickens, cage free eggs and providing fresh milk, homemade butter and bread.  She had a large garden, canned and froze the produce, enjoyed fishing, card games, puzzles, plants, flowers, visiting with kids and grandkids.  After Ed passed away in 1993, she eventually moved from the farm into the town of Halbur, and then to Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Carroll in 2015.

Marie is survived by all of her children:  Colleen (Dan) Hausman of Merritt Island, FL, Wanda Lea (Paul) Gorsuch of Great Falls, MT, James (Sharon) Eischeid of Halbur, Janell (Edward) McKay of McClean, VA, Marla (Greg) Manley of Simi Valley, CA, Renee Ersland (Ed) of Warrensburg, MO, Bob (Beth) Eischeid and Rahn (Lori) Eischeid of Halbur; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Her surviving siblings include Annie Sloup of Omaha, NE, and Susie Davis of Glidden, IA.  Her surviving in-laws include LouAnn Tigges and Edna Tigges, many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Frank Tigges and her husband Edward.  Also preceding her death were her brothers Larry, Leander, Melvin, Victor, Raymond Franklin, and Felix Tigges, and her sisters – Dorothy Pille, Alice Heithoff, Martha Buelt and Alverna Tigges.
