Marian Louise Long age 84 of Carroll, Iowa died at the Regency Park Care Center in Carroll on July 23, 2008.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastors David Anthony and Brian Licht officiating. Interment will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery at Glidden. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 9 AM until time of the Service. Organist will be Janet Huff and casket bearers will be Jim Honold, Jeff Shirbroun, Vernon Bane, Melvin Kruger, Jacob Johnson and Adam Kanzmeier. Marian was born on June 24, 1924 at Ida Grove Iowa and was the daughter of William and Rose (Kruger) Kanzmeier. She was married to Alvin Long on August 18, 1943 at Marengo, Iowa. Marian was baptized on June 24, 1924 by Pastor John Iversen and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids, Iowa on April 10, 1938 by Pastor W. H. Frederick. On May 21, 1942 she graduated from Coon Rapids High School. Marian worked for the Davenport Variety Store in Coon Rapids until her marriage. Alvin and Marian farmed for many years in the Coon Rapids area retiring in 1978 and moving to Coon Rapids, in 1985 due to ill health. ‘They moved to Carroll in September 1990.Marian enjoyed antiques and fishing and was a volunteer for RSVP. Marian was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids where she taught Sunday School for many years. When they moved to Carroll she became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. On August 18, 1993 the Longs celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a card shower.
Surviving are a daughter Vicki Chapman and her husband Michael of Omaha Nebraska and a granddaughter Stacey Lorenzi of Omaha Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant brother.
