Marian Charlotte Long, age 98, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Manning, IA, passed away at Garden View in Carroll on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning with Fr. Shane Deman as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by Ann Muhlbauer, Melanie Long, and Kayla Riesenberg. Casket Bearers will be Michael Long, Bryan Venteicher, Kara Venteicher, Jessica Cantrell, Steve Groat, and Matthew Vasquez. Honorary casket bearers will be Steve Irelan and Becky Groat. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.
Memorials will be given to a Veteran’s organization in Marian’s name.

Marian was born July 8, 1928 on a farm near Roselle in Carroll County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Clara (Zitzlsperger) Hoffman. She grew up on the farm, attended country school at Washington Township #8 and graduated from Manning High School in 1946. After her schooling, Marian did office work at Wm. Volker & Co. in Omaha for two years and on June 7, 1948 was united in marriage with Edmund L. Long at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Five children were born to this union. Marian worked at the Knudsen Implement Company as a bookkeeper for two years and at MJM Manufacturing for almost 20 years. She also served as the site manager of the Manning Senior Center. In 1991, Marian graduated from DMACC with an Associate Degree in Accounting and Business Management.
Marian was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll and Sacred Heart Parish while living in Manning. She was a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time Marian thoroughly enjoyed music as well as gardening, reading and puzzles. She loyally cared for her handicapped husband Eddie in later years as well.
Marian is survived by four children: Doug Long (Diana) of Cedar Rapids, Curt Long (Margaret) of Ankeny, Sue Venteicher (Lynn) of Pella, and Tom Long (Emily Cheatham) of Chandler, AZ; ten grandchildren: Jessica Cantrell (Matt); Andrea Wyatt (Michael), Emily Long (Dante Smith), Michael Long (Lisa), Melanie Long, Matthew Long, Kara Venteicher, Bryan Venteicher, Katelyn Venteicher and Brandon Long; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and many good friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Long; her parents Clara and Lawrence Hoffman; her in-laws Joseph and Elizabeth Long; a son Ronald Long; and siblings: Phyllis Bluml (Leo), William Hoffman, Juel Hoffman (Ellen), Harriett Hoffman, and Earl Hoffman; a niece Becky Bonargo; and a nephew Michael Hoffman.
