Margaret Strunk Wenck, age 97, of Lidderdale passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Greater Regional Hospice in Creston, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale with Fr. Craig Collison as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Lorraine Hoffman. Gift bearers will be Roger and Barb Heim. Eucharistic Minister will be Karen Scharfenkamp. Music for the Mass will be by Deanna Daniel as organist and the Holy Family Choir. Casket bearers will be Denis Heim, Tony Strunk, Joe Quilan, Dale Green, Delbert Heim, and David Heim. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. followed by a Rosary. Additional visitation will be held from 9 – 10 A.M. on Saturday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Margaret’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on June 11, 1919 on her family’s farm north of Lidderdale, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Laub) Strunk. Margaret was baptized at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale by Father Kuemper. She went to country school as a girl and her first teacher was Margaret Lux. Her first Holy Communion was April 27, 1928. Margaret worked with her family on the farm following her schooling. She was also her father’s bookkeeper for his thrashing and corn shelling business. Margaret was married to Ernest Otto Wenck on February 21, 1941 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale by Father Schoepner. The couple farmed north of Lidderdale and raised Herferd Cattle. They moved to Glidden and farmed for ten years and they also farmed in the Lake City area. Margaret and Ernest moved to Lidderdale in 1970. Following the death of her husband, Margaret continued to feed cattle and operate her farm for twelve years. Margaret is survived by several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Edward and Andrew Strunk, her uncle John Strunk, and her husband Ernest Otto Wenck.
