Margaret Arlene Bayer

Margaret Bayer, age 89, of LaVista, NE, and formerly of Glidden, IA, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Homestead of LaVista surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.  Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 1 – 2 P.M. prior to the service.

Margaret was born November 19,1934 in Lucas, lowa to Cliff and Hazel (Woods) Ginn.  She graduated from Lucas high school and then attended and graduated from the University of Northern lowa with her teaching certificate. She taught first grade in Glidden for 30 plus years. She married Eugene Bayer on July 27, 1957 and they were married 52 years. They have 2 daughters. Margaret enjoyed going on walks, reading on her deck, and adventures (casinos) with her good friend Connie. Marg and Gene spent many winters in Texas enjoying good times with good friends and summers at Sun Valley Lake.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Lynn (Paul) Neelans of La Vista, NE, Kelly (Bayer) Hampton of Papillion,NE; her grandchildren: Megan (Neelans) Gideon of Papillion, NE, Dan Neelans of Omaha, NE, Laura (Hampton) Bailey of Denver, CO, Erin Hampton of Papillion, NE, and 5 great-grandchildren Ty, Ava, Reese, Tegean, and Colby. Margaret is also survived by her nieces, nephews and many friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers and her husband Gene L Bayer.
